Industrial Action: Ondo Health workers Not In Agreement With JOHESU -HOS

The Ondo State Head of Service; Pastor Kayode Ogundele has said health workers in Ondo State will not join the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) on its planned industrial action.

Ogundele noted that the state chapter of the union has enjoyed immerse support from the Oluwarotimi Akeredolu administration in meeting the demands of the union hence, it will not be a party to the proposed industrial action.

Recall that JOHESU) has said that it will embark on an indefinite strike starting from midnight on Thursday, May 25, following the failure of government to meet its demands.

The organization which serves as an umbrella body of health workers’ unions and associations, noted that the government had shown tendencies to shift from their agreed terms and rules of engagement relating to non-discrimination in the determination of the wages and benefit packages of health workers in Nigeria.

In reaction to this, Ogundele said “given the existing mutual understanding between the organized labour and the Arakunrin Akeredolu-led government due its worker-friendly policies, Health Workers in Ondo State have decided not to join the strike action.”

In a press release signed by his Director of Information Service; Sina Adeyeye, the number one civil servant called on the public not to entertain fear of any disruption in services at government facilities across the state and enjoined the State to go about their normal duties without any fear of molestation.

Ogundele also gave the assurance that the Ondo State government will continually prioritize the interest of workers in the state.

“Be assured that the state government will continue to engage relevant workers unions to permanently address all legitimate concerns of all Health Workers and indeed, all workers in the state.”
