Ondo State workers have been urged to be mindful of their health status for longevity and efficient service delivery.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Amidu Takuro stated this while declaring open a one day general health workshop organised for the staff of Local Government Service Commission.

The event was themed: “Excellent Strategic Health Management and Developmental Skills in the Local Government Service”, held in Akure the state capital.

He added that the workshop would sensitize participants on how to take care of themselves, especially at this period in time,
He commended the commission for carefully chosen the theme, saying it has shown the premium the management places on the life of its staff.
He said: “The workshop was aimed at encouraging participants to be mindful of their health status because of the strategic place the occupy in the society”.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the commission, Femi Idris disclosed that the workshop was not only apt but organised at the right time, especially in this era of economic downturn with its attendant consequences of struggle for individuals to make ends meet in terms of finance and other conveniences of life.
The chairman noted that the commission has resolved to chart the cause of educating members of staff on qualitative healthy living practices as a way to nip these problems in the bud.
“ You will all agree with me that the struggle for survival leads to stress and emotional imbalance, this in turn leads to health challenges such as sickness and even untimely death if not properly managed.”
The chairman reiterated the commission’s resolve and desire to be consistent with the training and retraining of its staff.
“We will continue to strive hard to reawaken the consciousness of our staff through healthy living to enable them concentrate on their mandate which is to deliver efficient and excellent service to the masses”.
