The Ondo State All-Stars Veterans have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Sunshine Queens FC on their recent promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), achieved at the promotion playoff in Umuahia, Abia State.

In a statement released to the press by the association’s Public Relations Officer, Femi Filegbe, the President of the All-Stars Veterans, Hon. Adebayo Abayomi Opeoluwa, lauded the outstanding efforts of the players, coaching crew, and management of the team.

Hon. Opeoluwa described the promotion as a significant achievement and urged the management of Sunshine Queens to begin early preparations for the 2025/26 NWFL season, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and strategic planning.

He also highlighted the need to prioritize the welfare of players and officials, noting that adequate motivation is essential for peak performance.

“I call on all football stakeholders in Ondo State to rally behind the team. Sunshine Queens belong to all of us, and it is crucial that we continue to support them wholeheartedly,” he stated.

“While promotion has been achieved, much work remains to be done, especially regarding the welfare and salaries of both players and officials. As President of the All-Stars Veterans, I urge the management to review and adjust salaries in line with the current economic realities.”

Hon. Opeoluwa further emphasized the importance of strengthening the team with more experienced players to ensure Sunshine Queens remain competitive in the top flight.

“The current squad has etched their names in gold by securing this promotion. However, for the team to compete at the highest level, we must inject experienced talents that will complement the existing squad and raise the team’s performance.”

He concluded by calling on the management to build a formidable Sunshine Queens team that can not only challenge top clubs in the league but also replicate past glories, such as their historic triumph in the 2015 Women’s Federation Cup.
