Ondo Assembly Commends NAWOJ,Assures of Collaboration

Ondo State House of Assembly Chairman House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development,Hon.Princess Olawumi Fayemi-Obayelu has promised to partner with the Nigeria Women of Journalists (NAWOJ) in the State for women emancipation and development.

She stated this while receiving the State Executive and Members of NAWOJ in her office who paid her a courtesy visit.

The Lawmaker representing Ilaje constituency 2 said she is very impressed with what the Association is doing for women assuring of working in synergy with NAWOJ to achieve common goal.

According to her, women goes through a lot in the society with much things embedded in them hence the need to team up to support the gender.

She said she has always been an advocate of gender, therefore will push bills that would impact women through the support of relevant stakeholders.

To her, achieving the 35 percent affirmative for women requires cooperation, adding that the source must first be addressed with women supporting women, while push down syndrome must be put at bay.

Princess Obayelu who posited that stigmatisation of women in politics should be discharged, enjoined women not to loose focus in whatever they believe can help them develop.

Earlier, the State Chairperson NAWOJ, Comrade Tola Gbadamosi said that the visit became imperative for the Association to collaborate with the office of the lawmaker to further strengthen the system.

She informed that since her assumption of office in July this year, the Association under her leadership have carried out various programmes for women, including cervical cancer test, health talk, empowerment of widows among others.

Comrade Gbadamosi who said the Lawmaker’s office centered around women and gender, therefore sought for support in fastracking more development in the sector.
