People United by Sports (PUBS) empathises with the management of Sunshine Stars over the dastard attack on the team’s crew on their way to Benin City to honour matchday 13 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The General Secretary of the organisation, Kenny Smith Odogun in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Akure the state capital, described the attack as wicked and unfortunate.
Odogun added that sports being a unifying factor that brings all and sundry together, irrespective of their ethnic, religion and political inclination should not be subjected to such attack by men of the underworld.
The PUBS’ scribe, while calling on security agencies to swing into action and ensure they brought the perpetrators of the devilish act to book, prayed for the quick recovery of the injured officials and players.
He said: “We thank God that no life was lost in the horrific attack that got backroom staff of the team shot along Benin-Ore Road on Thursday.”
Odogun later, advised the league organisers to mandate all the teams in the league both male and female to ensure they travel with security men whenever they are playing outside their states.
