A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Mr. Michael Afolabi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.
Afolabi said that although he believed the president’s re-election was “unstoppable,” party members across various support groups must work together to ensure Ondo State delivers massive votes for Tinubu.
Several groups in the state are currently mobilising for the president’s re-election bid. They include the Tinubu Support Group, Tinubu Mandate Group, APC Elders Forum, Asiwaju Mandate Group, and the Progressives Network for Tinubu, among others.
Afolabi gave the charge in an interview in a statement he personally issued in Akure the state capital.
He said, “In line with our party’s Renewed Hope agenda and the giant strides of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I am very sure his re-election in 2027 will be unstoppable here in Ondo State.”
“It is high time for all of us in the Akure South/North Federal Constituency — and Ondo State in general — to unite in delivering a resounding victory for President Tinubu. Many support groups are springing up, but regardless of the group we belong to, we must work towards the same goal. We are all members of the same party, and we must join hands to ensure victory for President Tinubu in our state.”
He added that the APC in Ondo State was fully prepared to deliver a massive victory for the president in 2027, stressing that “what we need most is unity… united we stand, divided we fall.”
Afolabi also declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency, stating that the area deserved better representation at the National Assembly.
“Akure area deserves more. Our constituency, rich in human capital and blessed with natural resources, must not be left behind in the national conversation. I am stepping forward with a renewed vision anchored on transparency, accountability, grassroots engagement, and legislative excellence.”
He added that his experience in public service, the private sector, and community development, as well as his commitment to justice, equity, and progress, would guide both his campaign and eventual service if elected. “This is not just a campaign; it is a movement for responsible and responsive representation.”
The Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency seat is currently occupied by Mr. Derin Adesida, who is serving his second term. Adesida won the seat under the APC platform in the 2023 House of Representatives election, while several aspirants are already jostling for the party’s ticket ahead of 2027.
