The Director General of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), Hon. Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, says the ongoing President Bola Tinubu Sports Festival is successfully engaging residents across Ondo State while providing a platform to discover emerging talents in various sporting categories.
Yusuf-Ogunleye, who praised the Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for sponsoring the event, stated this at the weekend during a visit of selected venues hosting the 10 sports of the festival at Ikare zone.
He said the festival was conceived to keep the youth and the general populace meaningfully engaged, deepen community participation in sports, and promote the values of unity and healthy competition across the state.
“The level of participation we are witnessing is impressive. This festival is not just about identifying young talents; it is about engaging everyone who is active and willing to participate. Sports remain one of the strongest tools for community development,” the DG said.
The festival, officially flagged off on Nov. 6 in Ondo City, moved from the Owo zone to the Ikare zone last week. Winners from the 10 sporting events are expected to converge on Akure for the grand finale where overall champions will emerge.
