Alani’s Late Winner Sends Nasarawa Amazons into President Federation Cup Final

Jumoke Alani’s late winner was all Nasarawa Amazons FC needed to knock Sunshine Queens FC out of the President Federation Cup at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

Nasarawa Amazons scored in both halves of the semi-final to secure a place in their second consecutive President Federation Cup final.

The Lafia-based side lost 4-2 to Rivers Angels in a penalty shootout in the 2025 President Federation Cup final after regulation time ended 2-2.

Ayatse Hembafan fired Nasarawa Amazons ahead in the 18th minute of the 2026 President Federation Cup semi-final clash.

Sunshine Queens protested against the goal, forcing a brief stoppage, but the referee’s decision stood as Nasarawa Amazons took their lead into the break.

The Akure-based side recovered well from the early setback and continued to press for an equaliser.

They dominated large spells of the game from defence to attack, and their efforts paid off when Toyin Oyewole equalised for Sunshine Queens in the 93rd minute, raising hopes of a penalty shootout.

However, Sunshine Queens’ celebrations were short-lived as Nasarawa Amazons regained the lead just a minute later through Jumoke Alani. Her 94th-minute strike made it 2-1 and sent her side into a second consecutive final of Nigeria’s oldest football competition.

Nasarawa Amazons will face Heartland Queens FC in the final.

Heartland Queens booked their place in the final with a 2-1 victory over FC Robo in the second semi-final played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State.
