Adeniyan was recently appointed to the position by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa while retaining his existing role as Chief Press Secretary.
The union described the elevation as a well-deserved recognition of Adeniyan’s professionalism, competence and outstanding performance in managing the communication of government policies, programmes and activities.
In a congratulatory statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite, and State Secretary, Comrade Olaoluwa Meshack, and dated November 5, 2026, the NUJ said the appointment reflected the governor’s confidence in Adeniyan’s ability to advance the administration’s media and publicity objectives.
The council also commended Aiyedatiwa for recognising the contributions of the media professional, expressing optimism that his elevation would strengthen the state government’s information machinery and improve communication between the government and the people.
According to the union, Adeniyan’s retention as Chief Press Secretary alongside his new responsibility as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity underscores the governor’s confidence in his capacity to deliver effectively in both roles.
It expressed confidence that the appointment would promote professionalism, transparency and the timely dissemination of information, while fostering a stronger relationship between the government and the media.
The NUJ urged Adeniyan to regard his elevation as a call to greater service and responsibility, assuring him of its continued support and cooperation in advancing responsible journalism and effective public communication.
The council further wished him success in his new assignment, expressing confidence that his wealth of experience would contribute meaningfully to the development of Ondo State.
