People United By Sports (PUBS) has donated two sets of jerseys to ‘Odatiwa’ Ambassadors who will represent Ondo State at the 2024 World Teqball qualifiers scheduled to kick off in Abia State today.
The presentation of the jerseys was done at the state sports complex in Akure, by representative of the organisation, Mr Oluwasegun Isaac who urged the players to be focused and ensure they do the state proud at the competition.
He said People United By Sports decided to support the Teqball Association in the state, Knowing Fully well that government cannot do it alone.
“This is our state, we will continue to support grassroots sports development, irrespective of the current economic situation.
“We cannot leave everything in the hands of government alone; I’m urging other sports enthusiasts, philanthropists to extend their kind gesture to sports development in the state.”
While receiving the jerseys, the Chairman and Secretary of Ondo State Teqball Association, Mr Seun Betiku and Kehinde Odogun thanked the organisation for their support.
Betiku who said People United By Sports (PUBS) has been the sole sponsor of Teqball in Ondo State, prayed, that God will bless and enlarge the coast of the organisation.
‘Odatiwa’ Ambassadors comprises of three female, one male and a coach were later unveiled with the newly donated kits.
The players included, Ololade Akintunde, Jennifer Ukam, Kehinde Aganmuyi, Dotun Olafisoye and Coach Mark Oloruntola.
Unveiling the players, the State’s Teqball Association Chairman, Seun Betiku admonished the team to be good ambassadors of the state.
According to him, “I have no doubt in my mind that you will do us proud, you have done it before and you can do it again.
He said: “Ololade Akintunde won bronze medal in her first competitive game in Delta in 2022 with little or no experience, with her exposure and better understanding of the rules, I’m sure something great awaits us at the 2024 Teqball Qualifiers.”
Ololade Akintunde in a chat with newsmen, promised to improve on her achievement during her maiden competition in Asaba , Delta State.
She said she has been more acquainted with the rules of the game, saying with God on their side, they will make Ondo State proud.
