Aiyedatiwa Rejects Disloyalty Claims, Reaffirms Commitment to APC’s 2027 Victory

The Ondo State Government has dismissed claims that Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is engaging in anti-party activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the allegations as false and misleading.

The clarification followed the circulation of a photograph showing the governor with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Central Senatorial candidate, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, at the Government House Chapel in Akure on Sunday.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said attempts to portray the meeting as evidence of disloyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) were a deliberate effort to create unnecessary controversy.

According to the statement, the Government House Chapel, like the mosque within the Government House premises, is a public place of worship open to citizens, religious leaders and public officials, irrespective of political affiliation.

The government explained that Akinyelure attended the chapel to worship and to personally thank Governor Aiyedatiwa for sending representatives and a goodwill message during celebrations marking his 70th birthday last week.

“It was a normal act of courtesy, decorum and respect that transcends party lines,” the statement said.

The government also noted that Senator Akinyelure is the younger brother of Chief Pius Akinyelure, a prominent APC leader, ally of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chairman of the Governor’s Advisory Council in Ondo State.

Reaffirming the governor’s political allegiance, the statement said Aiyedatiwa remained fully committed to the APC and would work with the party’s structures to ensure its candidates emerge victorious in future elections across the state.

The government urged party members and the public to disregard what it described as attempts by “mischief-makers” to sow division within the ruling party.

It added that the governor remained focused on governance and on consolidating the achievements of the APC administration in Ondo State.
