The Department of Building at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has received eight office chairs donated by Builder Prince Aderemi Adewodun, MNIOB, in another gesture aimed at supporting Building education and professional development.

The donation, presented on Friday, September 4, 2026, is part of Adewodun’s continued support for the Building profession and educational institutions.

Receiving the items on behalf of the department, the Head of Department, Dr Ijigah, expressed appreciation to Adewodun for his support, describing the gesture as a practical contribution towards improving the working environment for academic staff.

According to Ijigah, initiatives of this nature could contribute to improved staff productivity and create a more conducive environment for teaching, learning and research.

The Coordinator of the Top-Up Programme, Dr Albert, also commended Adewodun for what he described as his consistency in supporting the Building profession.

He prayed for continued blessings upon the donor and his endeavours.

Staff and students of the department similarly welcomed the donation, describing it as an expression of commitment to the development of Building education and the future of the profession in Nigeria.

Adewodun’s latest intervention is understood to be part of a broader commitment to supporting Building education and professional development.

The initiative began with support for the Staff School of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, and has since expanded to other areas of the profession.

Beyond the material value of the eight chairs, the gesture was seen by members of the department as an encouragement to academic staff and students, as well as a contribution towards providing a more conducive environment for academic activities.

The department expressed hope that the initiative would encourage other professionals, alumni and stakeholders to partner with tertiary institutions in strengthening education and advancing the Building profession in Nigeria.

Adewodun, a member of the Nigerian Institute of Building (MNIOB), has been recognised by colleagues and beneficiaries for his involvement in supporting students, workplace development and the wider professional community.

The FUTA donation further highlights the role professionals can play in complementing institutional efforts to improve facilities and promote excellence in education.
