I heartily congratulate the people of Ondo State as our dear state marks fifty years of creation on 3 February 1976. This golden jubilee is a historic milestone that celebrates the resilience, unity, and progressive spirit of the Sunshine State.
From its origins in the old Western State, Ondo State has grown into a vital and strategic part of the Nigerian federation. Over five decades, the state has recorded steady progress in governance, infrastructure, human capital development, and economic growth. Akure stands firmly as the administrative and cultural centre of the state.
This anniversary reflects the vision of the state’s founding leaders, the sacrifices of communities across its towns and villages, and the enduring determination of the Ondo people to pursue sustainable development and shared prosperity. It is both a moment of pride and an opportunity for collective reflection on the journey so far.
This fiftieth anniversary provides space to pause and examine the path travelled, assess the present realities, and clarify collective aspirations. Ondo State today holds vast human and natural resources, a rich cultural identity, and a population capable of driving further growth. This moment calls for unity of purpose, stronger institutions, and sustained commitment to responsible leadership, innovation, and inclusive development that touches every part of the state.
I commend the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for providing focused and purposeful leadership at this defining moment in our history. Under the OUR EASE Administration, committed to making governance more responsive and improving the quality of life of Ondo State indigenes, the state continues to witness renewed emphasis on infrastructural development, continuity in governance, economic expansion, and people-centred policies that are laying a solid foundation for long-term growth.
As Ondo State marks this golden jubilee, this moment calls for unity, stronger institutions, and collective support for policies and programmes that promote inclusive development, stability, and measurable progress across all parts of the state.
I extend my warm congratulations to all residents and to all sons and daughters of Ondo State at home and in the diaspora. May this historic anniversary deepen civic pride and guide the state toward sustained development and shared prosperity.
Signed,
Otunba Valentine Olaleye
