Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye is confident that the CHAN Eagles will overcome the setback of their 1-0 loss to Senegal and qualify from the group.
He has therefore urged the players to consider their narrow loss as a tonic to ginger them to victory in the remaining fixtures of the group and subsequent knockout stages.
“We may have lost the opening match but the team was not outplayed. A late defensive error cost us the match and I am confident that they will rally to win their next games starting with Sudan on Tuesday”, remarked Elegbeleye.
Nigeria lost to defending Champions, Senegal after a 75th minute goal by Gomis. The CHAN Eagles will face Sudan and later Congo in the final group game.
Players from the NPFL dominate the team to the competition which is reserved for African players who are in domestic league clubs of their country.
