Former Sunshine Queens Captain, Ajibade, Aganmuyi Join Rivers Angels

Former Sunshine Queens captain, Taiwo Ajibade, and her teammate, Taiwo Aganmuyi, have both joined Rivers Angels on a two-year deal.

Ajibade, who spent four seasons with Sunshine Queens, has signed a contract that will see her represent the Jewels of the Rivers for two football seasons.

Renowned for her attacking prowess and dribbling skills, Ajibade scored three goals and provided two assists for Sunshine Queens during the 2023/24 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) season.

Her stellar performance, particularly in the match against FC Robo on matchday 10, earned her a spot in the team of the week.

Meanwhile, Aganmuyi, a pacy attacker, spent two seasons with Sunshine Queens before making the move to Rivers Angels.

She gave her all during her time with the Akure-based club and is now set to continue her football journey with the Port Harcourt team.

The duoexpressed gratitude to Sunshine Queens for providing them with a platform to showcase their God-given talents.

“Sunshine Queens will always remain an important part of us.

“We won’t forget the experience we gained there, which has made our transition to another big team seamless,” they said.

Ajibade and Aganmuyi were among the 14 players unveiled by Rivers Angels on Sunday at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, ahead of the 2024/25 NWFL season.

Rivers Angels, who last won the league title three years ago, will aim to reclaim the crown from Delta Queens and Edo Queens, who have emerged as champions in the past two seasons.
