Players and Officials of Emalex FC of Owo were in joyous and glorious mood after defeating one of the top premier League side, Remo Stars FC of Shagamu 1-0 in a friendly encounter at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.
The only goal of the encounter was scored by Emalex FC top striker, Ibrahim Hassan, through an assist from a free kick by midfielder, Alex Ajulo in the 32nd minute of the encounter.
It would be recalled that the same Remo Stars had earlier pummelled their counterpart in the Sunshine State, Sunshine Stars FC of Akure 3-0 as preparations geared up towards the new NPFL season.
Reacting to the victory in an interview, Emalex FC Team Manager, Peter Ajinah, said he was elated with the victory because most of his players were not up to 20 years of age and gave a good account of themselves.
Ajinah said that he was particularly happy that they could help avenge the defeat meted out at Sunshine Stars by the visitors on Sunday
He added that his players were surprised that they could beat a team that just participated in a continental championship and a team that pummeled another premier league rival, Sunshine Stars 3-0.
“It is a kind of applause to the team, it is an unexpected result, being young boys, not up to 20years, playing a premier league team and emerging victorious, we are very happy with the result.
“My players were surprised and happy and all they did was to play to instruction and believed in the coach and advise the coach gave to them and that is why they were able to emerge victorious,” he said.
Ajinah said the club’s aim and objectives were to promote and expose young talents that would become great footballers in future
“Emalex is a kind of amateur team participating in Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) and last season was the first season they participated and they performed very well and they came third in their group and we intend to do more and the aims and objectives of setting up to the club is to promote young talents and expose them to the world and use it as a business as well,” he said.
