The Deputy General Overseer of the Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), Pastor (Dr.) E.T. Oluwayemi has called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in their faith despite the current economic difficulties facing the nation.
Speaking with journalists after the 3-Day Isuada City-wide Crusade organized by the GOFAMINT Isuada 1 Assembly in Owo District, Pastor Oluwayemi emphasized that Christians should not allow the economic situation to dictate their behavior. He urged Nigerians to repent from their evil ways, turn to God, and trust in His divine intervention to heal the land.
Earlier in his sermon on Sunday, June 8, 2025, Pastor Oluwayemi highlighted several important traits of members of the Kingdom of God, including holiness, obedience, victory, and fearlessness. He warned against living in fear, stating that it can undermine faith and expose individuals to vulnerability.
He emphasized the necessity of faith and perseverance in the face of adversity.
In another development, Pastor Oluwayemi presented scholarship and bursary awards to students from three different categories, and financial empowerment to some women. He described education as a vital tool for nation-building and noted that funding should not be the sole responsibility of the government . He expressed that if all churches co-operate and support education, the youth would be much better off today.
The host pastor, Pastor Michael Akinola Ojo, mentioned that the program began in 2023 through divine inspiration and aligns with word of God in the book of James 1:23. This initiative includes scholarship awards for students and financial support for small-scale traders, aiming to impact lives both spiritually and physically.
In his remarks, the Asuada of Isuada, HRM Oba Joel Oluwayemi Adeluwoye, commended the pastor for his dedication to Isuada and his commitment to the community’s progress.
He expressed gratitude for the scholarship awards and empowerment initiatives, believing these will significantly benefit the recipients. He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely.
Additionally, the chairman of the 5-member Scholarship/Empowerment committee, Dr. Sylvester Itanrin, a university lecturer, thanked the assembly pastor for the initiative, which stems from his passion for education and helping others. He noted that a total of 15 students received bursary awards this year: 6 (six)from the primary education category, 5 (Five) from the secondary education category, and 4 (Four) from the Tertiary education category. Among the beneficiaries was Master Precious Olanegan, who scored 346 in the 2025 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations. Furthermore, three women received financial support to enhance their small-scale trading businesses.
