LGSC Trains Staff On Capacity Building, Urges Workers To Shun Negative Habits

Chairman Ondo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) Hon. Femi Idris has charged Civil Servants in Ondo State to shun any form of negative habit that could affect their day to day activities in the service.

 The Chairman stated this at a three-day capacity building, with the theme: “Principle of Good Governance,  Service through Adherence to Organisation Rules and Procedures in the Local Government Service” organised for the staff of the commission in Akure, the state capital.

Idris said government would continue to recognize and compensate hard working staff, but won’t also  hesitate to wield the big stick against any erring officers in the service.

The commission’s Chairman while declaring the workshop open  said the theme of the workshop was in line with the REDEEMED agenda of the current administration, which he said was designed to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.

“The workshop was well packaged to re-awaking our consciousness towards our primary responsibilities as  public servants”

He therefore, urged workers in the state  to justify the huge investment of government on them by putting in their best to make the service better.

He said: “With the caliber of resource persons assembled for this workshop and the topical issue to be discussed, I’m convinced that we will all leave here more equipped, grounded and  knowledgeable than ever before. On this note, I urged you all to be focused and attentive as they will be taking us through the topical issues”

In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the commission, Mrs Adenike Ogunsola said training is continuous process saying the workshop will in no measure help to fortify the worker for a better service delivery.

She added that “to whom much is given, much is expected, let us be disciplined and do our job diligently, the workshop will help us to grow intellectually.

Some of the participants at the workshop said the training will go a long way in making them more grounded on their job.

“As we are going back to our different offices , we are going to put all that has been impacted on us into practice.”
