The Nasarawa State Football Association Normalisation Committee have announced dates and venues for the conduct of elections into the various offices of the Local Government Areas’ Football Chapters as well as the State Association distinctively.
Making the disclosure at a football stakeholders’ meeting held on Thursday at the Conference Hall of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Lafia, Chairman of the Normalisation Committee, Hon. Aliyu Bello, told attendants that sale and submission of forms into the various Local Government Areas’ Football Chapters would commence from 5-7th October, 2023, with interested candidates urged to obtain their interest form(s) from the Sports Secretaries of the various Local Government Areas of the State.
Screening of aspirants would hold from 8-9th of October, 2023, while names of successful candidates would be announced between 10th-11th October, 2023.
Appeals’ dates are slated for 12th-13th October, 2023, while election and inauguration of candidates who emerge victorious would hold On 14th October, 2023.
The cost of form for the office of the Chairman of the Local Government Area Football Association was pegged at N70,000.00; Vice Chairmanship position pegged at N50,000.00 while other positions cost N30,000.00 each.
In the released timetable, elections in Karu, Keffi and Kokona Local Government Areas would take place in Nasarawa Local Government Area while Nasarawa and Toto Local Government Areas’ elections would hold in Keffi Local Government Area.
For Akwanga Zone, elections in Akwanga, Nasarawa-Eggon and Wamba Local Government Areas are scheduled to take place in Kokona Local Government Area while in Lafia Zone, Doma, Keana and Awe Local Government Areas’ elections would be held in Lafia Local Government Area, with elections into Lafia and Obi Local Government Areas are slated for Doma Local Government Area.
Aliyu Bello also streamlined itineraries for the State Election as thus;
Sale of forms to take place between 16th-20th October, 2023; submission of forms holds between 23rd-24th October, 2023, while screening of aspirants is slated for between 25th-26th October, 2023.
Display of names of successful candidates holds between 27th-30th October, 2023, with Appeals holding from 31st October to 2nd November, 2023, whereas election and swearing-in are scheduled for 4th November, 2023.
Interested persons are told to obtain their forms from the office of the FA Normalisation Committee at the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Lafia.
For the office of the State FA Chairman, the form costs N250,000.00; Vice Chairmanship position is pegged at N200,000.00 while other positions cost N100,000.00.
The Committee Chairman added that the Normalisation Committee would deploy all the stipulated FA Electoral Guidelines, and would be firm on anyone found to be acting otherwise.
He thanked the Nasarawa State Government, Nigeria Football Federation and other key stakeholders for the support to the Committee, promising to ensure a hitch-free and democratically-modelled elections across boards.
Speaking earlier, Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Barr. Isaac Danladi, praised the Normalisation Committee for creating a level-playing ground for the conduct of elections into the various Local and State Associations.
He pledged the support of the State Government towards the success of the Elections, calling on participants and stakeholders to unite to achieve a common goal.
Briefly present at the Stakeholders’ Meeting was the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango.
Members of the Nasarawa State FA Normalisation Committee, representives of Nasarawa United FC, Nasarawa Amazons FC, Coaches’ Association, and Local Government Areas’ Sports Secretaries as well as Sports Journalists also attended the meeting.
