NNL Debutant Madiba FC Thrash Ekiti United 3-0

Nigeria National League, NNL debutant Madiba FC began their campaign in the second tier league with an impressive win after they won Ekiti United 3-0 at Mobolaji Johnson, Onikan in Lagos.

The match day one played under the hot weather lived up to expectation as the host who were crowned the 2022 Nation-Wide League One, NLO champion continue their dominance on the field of play.

Twenty minutes into the match witnessed series of coordinated string of passes by the host who pushed the ball from park to the defence of the visitors but hit firm resistance.

But the deadlock was broken by the host central back Ewodage Abubakar who nodded the ball into the net after connecting a free kick from Ndubisi Anthony in the 30 minutes to give the host the lead.

Attempt to restore parity from the visitors proved abortive as the host pressed high to finish the first stanza with a lone goal

The second half resumed with display of football artistries by host which paved way for the second goal in the 76 minutes after
the referee adjudged a penalty after substitute Egbonwon Harrison was fouled in the yard of 18.

In the 78th minute Madiba FC forward Solomon Aliu rose to the occasion as he converted the penalty kick after he sent away Ekiti United Gk to double the lead for the Lagos based team.

With few minutes to end the consent between the two team, substitute Egbawon Harrison took advantage of goal bound effort to net the third goal to seal the victory for the host.

In his reaction, Madiba FC coach Solomon Bala alluded the victory to players listening to instruction, saying that his target to win the next match.

“My boys listened to instruction, I told them what to do and they did it and we got the victory.”
