Sunshine Stars will rue their goal scoring chances as they lost by a lone goal to Bendel Insurance in the match day 30 of the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City.
Kayode Oke put the home team ahead in the 22nd minute with his 22 meters strike and their only shot on target throughout.
Sunshine Stars responded to the goal deficit with several goal scoring opportunities created but the man between the sticks for the Bendel Insurance denied the visitors from from hitting the target in both halves.
Stephen Chukwude thought he had leveled for Sunshine Stars in the 67 minutes only to see his lobbed ball hit the cross bar.
All efforts to get the better side of Insurance were not successful as they kept the maximum points in the kitty.
In his post match interview, Sunshine Stars Chief Coach, Bobola Akinfolarin said his side will keep pushing till the end of the season.
According to him, “we were just unlucky, our playing did not reflect the outcome of the game as we created so many goals scoring chances but unable to convert any.”
Our opponent scored from just one opportunity they had and it decided the outcome of the game; for us we will keep pushing till the end.”
Sunshine Stars will next host Heartland in the match day 31 at their makeshift home ground.
