NWFL Matchday 13: Sunshine Queens Pip Ekiti Queens With Olamide’s Lone Goal

Seventy five minutes lone goal from Bolaji Olamide was all Sunshine Queens needed to send Ekiti Queens packing in the Matchday 13 of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).

Olamide scored the goal in the 75th minute from substituted Bunmi Adenuga final pass to take her goal tally to four with a match to end the 2023/24 NWFL league.

The entertainment female soccer played at the Ondo State sports complex saw Sunshine Queens taking the control of the game from the blast of the referee.

Thanks to three clear chances rued by Sunshine Queens, it would have been 3-0 In the first half, despite time wasting tactics deployed by the visitors.

Sunshine Queens goalkeeper, Precious Aaron was at her best to save from a dangerous freekick in the 24th minute.

Bolaji Olamide outside box strike hit the crossbar before the center referee signalled the end of first stanza.

Sunshine Queens Coach, made tactical changes by throwing Precious Edewor, Bunmi Adenuga into the fray to replace Suliyat Ajibade and Shola Oduwale in the second half.

Moment later, Taiwo Aganmuyi and Mercy Mbachu were brought in to replace Ajibade Taiwo and Ogechi Joseph.

No further goal was recorded after Bolaji Olamide scored the match decider as the home team kept the maximum points in the kitty, to leap out of the red zone.

Assistant Coach of Sunshine Queens FC, Olanrewaju Ale, in a chat with newsmen, said the match between the two sister states was a very tough derby, thanking God that his side came out victorious in the matchday 13 NWFL encounter.

Ale commended his players for playing according to instructions, saying the match plan was that they must play the ball on the ground which they did and it yielded the needed result.

He said: “You can see that before we scored that goal, it was combination of more than five passes.”

Our next match will be against Remo Stars Ladies at Ikene ,Ogun State, no doubt they are a good side, but we are better, we are going there with our eyes on the maximum points, what God can not do, does not exist” he said.
