ODSG Awards Workers, as Permanent Secretaries Get New Vehicles

Twelve outstanding  Public Servants drawn from various Ministries , Department AMD Agencies (MDAs) and three corporate organisations have been given awards of recognition.

The benefited organization include; Ondo State primary Health Care Development Agency OSPHCDA) Imade College,Owo and Saint Michael Catholic High School,Akure. 

While 30 Brand New sport Utility Vehicles were also presented to all the Permanent Secretaries in the public service of the state as official vehicle.

The Awards and Vehicles  were presented at the 2023 Public Service lecture held at the International Culture and event Center (The Dome) in Akure .

 Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu while presenting the vehicles to the beneficiaries said it will enhance their performances in their different ministries.

The Governor , represented by the secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu added that the current government will continue to prioritize the welfare of workers.

Akeredolu reiterated the commitment of his administration to clear the outstanding salary of January 2017 owed by the previous administration. 

He stressed that the topic of the lecture tagged “Leveraging on Bureaucratic Potentials for the Promotion if investment in Ondo State” was carefully picked and apt, saying the Investment Summit themed, Develop ONDO in April was considered imperative for the Bureaucracy to be reminded of its roles and its rules in order to grow the economy.

He commended the public servants in the state for their support and cooperation for his administration, saying that without their cooperation , his government would not have recorded th e great feats achieved in all its policy target.

“Workers welfare will continue to be given priority, despite the lean financial resources”. 

He charged Public Servants to uphold the integrity of the state and foster accountability and transparency in official transactions, even at all levels of government ,saying they must strive to expand the State’s revenue base and prudently manage the finances of the state for development purposes.

“You must hold dear the virtues and ethics of professionalism and play by the rules. This administration has insulated the Bureaucracy from partisan politics and will continue to sustain this”. 

In his welcome address, the head of service , Pastor Kayode Ogundele thanked the Governor for his approval and support to enable Ondo State workers observe this annual celebration describing the Governor as a workers friendly leader.

Ogundele said the present administration has placed the  welfare of workers in the front burner,adding that workers have continued to enjoy regular promotion as and when due with financial benefits.

According to him, “Our home grown Reform Initiative, (ODSIP) ,approved Mr Governor and driven by the office of the Head of Service is making remarkable progress in the entrenchment of value and virtue of our service . Service delivery is being boosted through digitalization of personal – related records.”

He assured the Governor that the public servants will not rest on their oars in achieving quality service delivery at all time.

In his lecture, th Guest Speaker, Professor Tunji Olaopa said Ondo State is uncontrollably blessed in terms of human and mineral resources, saying the need for urgency of a system wide capacity building and performance enhancing professionalism and improvement of workplace ethic for all public managers.

Olaopa charged government to focus on enhancing the public service capacity for policy intelit on investment as well as Stakeholders’ engagement skills.
