The Ondo State Government has absorbed 637 teachers affected by lapses in the 2025 recruitment exercise, urging them to demonstrate discipline, dedication and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The Chairman of the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB), Princess Olufunmilayo Ademulegun-Brown, gave the charge during the presentation of appointment letters to the newly absorbed teachers at the board’s headquarters in Akure, the state capital.
The teachers were among applicants affected by irregularities in the 2025 recruitment exercise. Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa had earlier promised to absorb applicants who possessed the requisite qualifications.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Ademulegun-Brown urged them to regard their absorption as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state’s education sector, particularly by improving teaching and learning in public primary schools.
She emphasised the importance of punctuality, commitment and ethical conduct, noting that teachers must serve as role models to the pupils entrusted to their care.
The ODSUBEB chairman urged the teachers to uphold the ethics of the profession, attend school regularly, prepare adequately for lessons and prioritise the academic and moral development of their pupils.
She stressed that their conduct and dedication would be crucial to improving the quality of basic education across the state.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of ODSUBEB, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, advised the newly absorbed teachers to familiarise themselves with the board’s operational guidelines and comply strictly with established rules and regulations.
She noted that discipline, diligence and cooperation with relevant officials were essential for effective service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Omotayo Abednego Arogbowei expressed appreciation to the state government for giving them the opportunity to serve in the education sector.
Arogbowei pledged that the teachers would contribute to the development of education in Ondo State, particularly at the public primary school level, by promoting effective teaching and learning and supporting the academic and moral development of pupils.
The absorption of the teachers follows the governor’s earlier commitment to provide an opportunity for qualified applicants affected by the 2025 recruitment exercise to join the state’s teaching workforce.
