Ondo Commissioner Advocates For  Youth Empowerment Through Sports,Seeks FG’s Partnership

The Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Saka Yusuf- Ogunleye has called for more Youth empowerment through sports.

He made this assertion during his visit to the office of the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh in Abuja.

According to him, State Government can not do it alone, that is why we are seeking Federal Government partnership to show case raw talents and developed Youths through grassroots sports.

He called for more states involvement in national sports policies, so as to engage the Youths and take them off social vices.

Further, he appreciated his warm welcome and congratulated him on his appointment.

Responding, the Minister, senator John Owan Enoh harps on the  need to go back to schools sports where raw talents could be identified, nurtured and promoted. He solicited for  Ministry of Education collaboration for success.

Enoh added that the present government is committed to grassroot sports development, having invested in the area of human development. 

He said a critical assessment of the sports had shown a huge decline in the grassroot sports development.

He said: There is need to re-introduce headmaster’s cup in primary schools and principal’s cup in secondary schools across the state for more grassroots sports development.

He promised to meet with the Governors through their forum for more emphasis on the important of sports for Youths empowerment, saying he will create a platform between him and states Commissioner for Sports to have time to deliberate on sports matters.
