The Ondo State Head of Service, Chief Segun Odusanya, has encouraged Directors of Finance and Supply (DFS) in the local government service to remain diligent in the discharge of their duties while positioning themselves for higher responsibilities.

Odusanya gave the charge when members of the Association of Directors of Finance and Supply in the state’s local governments paid him a congratulatory visit following his appointment as Head of Service.
He described Directors of Finance and Supply as critical stakeholders in the effective administration of local governments, assuring them that the state government would continue to accord their offices the recognition they deserve.
The Head of Service also welcomed the liberalisation of the position of Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), noting that the reform had removed previous restrictions that limited the office to officers in the administrative cadre.
He urged qualified DFS officers to take advantage of the opportunity by expressing interest whenever vacancies arise.
“I want to congratulate the local government for liberalising the position of HOLGA. Before now, it used to be for only the administrative cadre and it was a big war,” Odusanya said.
“I want to encourage people in this group to indicate their interest in becoming HOLGA because you have now been allowed to attain the highest position through the liberalisation.”
Odusanya also stressed the need to clearly define the responsibilities of the various categories of officers within the local government system to eliminate overlapping functions and improve administrative efficiency.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association of Directors of Finance and Supply in Ondo State, Mr Marcus Akinduko, called for greater recognition of the office of the Director of Finance and Supply within the local government administration.
Akinduko commended Odusanya’s achievements during his tenure as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and expressed appreciation to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for appointing him as Head of Service.
He prayed for the success of the Head of Service in his new role and pledged the association’s continued support for his office.
