Parents, Churches, Govt, Others Contribute To Moral Decadence – Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor, Hon. lucky Aiyedatiwa has said strong positive re- orientation programmes are needed to tackle the current societal decadence among the youths.

Aiyedatiwa added that 21st century has come with many challenges which the young and old must deal with headlong, saying how well they will battle the challenges will depend on on whether or not they have the right values of commitment to hard work, dignity of labour,self discipline tolerance,patience , humility among others.

He noted that the youth will not be held responsible for not upholding positive values, parents,churches education institution as well as the government have contributed in no small measure to the neglect of values and moral decadence in the society.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami stated this while declaring open a sensitisation Workshop organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development with theme; Value Re- Orientation: Panacea For A Sustainable Development in Ondo State, held at International Event Center ,The Dome in Akure,the state capital.

Aiyedatiwa added that the current administration would continue to prioritize investment in youth as encapsulated in their 8- point REDEEMED Agenda.

According to him ,”the core value of our agenda is human capital development which is the foundation for socio – economic growth of our state”

“It should be noted that given the present economic situation,the state resources are limited to adequately invest in our youth for them to compete with international standard.”

“This is why it becomes imperative for the intervention of the private sectors to support with the much needed resources to drive our all -round development to the next level in line with the public-private partnership initiative.”

Therefore, I enjoin you to continue to co-operate and trust in our administration as we continue to make efforts aimed at building a better Ondo State through sustainable innovative solutions to unemployment challenges.”

In his welcome address, Ondo State Head of Service ,Mr Bayo Philip, represented by Permanent Secretary of the ministry,Mrs Foluke Tunde-Daramola averred that value orientation is the principal of right and wrong character and image, saying re-orientation of value system is like looking into the past for national culture that would reshape the present wrong character and image.

Bayo Philip added that investing in young people’s innovation and entrepreneurship is key to the creation of inclusive sustainable development.

The resource person, Jeffrey Abidoye said it’s imperative to positively change the perception of the youths to ensure a better society.

He said: “We must change their perception, remodel and give them hope.”
