The commissioner, who was with the management of his ministry and the General Manager of the Sports Council, Mr Sunday Fagite to support the team, appreciated both teams for the victory.
”I am happy our boys played very well and worked hard from the blow of the whistle to the end. When our opponent had the penalty, I almost gave up because we were playing the match together from my seat as a spectator but our Goalkeeper, Ariyo was fantastic as he saved the penalty.
“Also our girls Sunshine Queens who went down in the league, defeated their opponent by 2-0 at the women’s version of the cup.
“I am also happy that our efforts are yielding results, I want to thank Mr Governor for believing in us even when hopes were dashed, he kept on encouraging us and supporting us.” He said.
Yusuf-Ogunleye appreciated football fans for their support and prayers for both teams.
The commissioner also assured that Sunshine Stars will not go on relegation and prayed for better results ahead.
