Oseni Rafiu has resigned from his position as Assistant Coach of Sunshine Stars U-19 after eight months in the role.

Rafiu was initially appointed by the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) in 2024 as Head Coach of Sunshine Queens following the club’s relegation at the end of the 2023/24 season.

After guiding Sunshine Queens to an immediate return to the top-flight Nigeria Women’s Football League, he was redeployed to the Sunshine Stars U-19 team as Assistant Coach.

In a resignation letter seen by this medium, Rafiu stated:
“I write to formally tender my resignation from my position as Assistant Coach of Sunshine Stars U-19, effective from 1 August 2026.

“This decision has not been an easy one, as it has been a great privilege to serve the club and contribute to the development of young players.

“I sincerely appreciate the opportunity given to me to work with the management and the technical crew during my time with the team.

“I am grateful for the experience, support and professional growth I have gained while serving at Sunshine Stars U-19.

“I will always cherish the relationships built and the memories created during my tenure.

“I remain committed to ensuring a smooth transition of my responsibilities before my departure. I wish Sunshine Stars U-19, the management, coaching staff and players continued success in all future competitions and endeavours.

“Thank you once again for the opportunity.”
