Reciprocate Government’s Good Gesture With Ethical Practices – HOS Charges Health Workers

Health workers in Ondo State have been charged to reciprocate the huge investment of Governor Akeredolu in the sector with best practices in the discharge of their duties to the citizens.

The state Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele gave the charge at a familiarisation visit paid to him in his office in Akure, the state capital by the executives of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists in the state.

Ogundele, who highlighted the efforts of the Akeredolu-led government to improve healthcare delivery in the state to include the recent employment of over one thousand health workers, urged the officers to ensure their patients receive commensurate services in all government health facilities across the state.

While stressing that the health sector occupied a critical position in the ‘REDEEMED’ agenda of the state government despite the lean resource at its disposal, the Head of Service said the government would continue to prioritise the health needs of its citizenry, adding that the government would not be deterred by the daunting economic challenges

‘I want to plead with you. Let’s keep giving our best. Let our patients that visit our hospitals have value for their money and let them have this feeling that coming to the hospital is not wasting of their time and let them have trust in you.’ Ogundele said.

‘I think for us in the Medical Lab., we should encourage our members to be ethical in the performance of their duties’

‘I hope we just be able to build people’s confidence. We must try to make sure at our own level, whatever we can to make sure people don’t lose trust.’ He further charged.

Speaking earlier at the occasion, the chairman of the association, Olawale Ogunmola and the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the state Ministry of Health, Dr Uche Odioyenma said the visit was to intimate the Head of Service with the yearnings and aspirations of members of the association.

They advocated for the establishment of the Directorate of Medical Laboratory Science in the state Ministry of Health as it is the practice in other places.
