The organisers of the 2025 Bet9ja Ondo State Football League (BODFL) have urged club owners across the state to ensure their participation in the third edition of the grassroots football competition.
They announced that registration is open to all interested grassroots teams in Ondo State and will continue until October 3, 2025.
Chairman of the league, Akogun Yomi Seriki, made this call while addressing journalists in Akure on Saturday. He disclosed that the upcoming edition will feature an under-19 category, marking a shift from the previous two editions which were open to all age groups.
Seriki stated that the decision to focus on U-19 players aligns with the current global football trend of developing young talent early.
“Our aim is to comb the nooks and crannies of the state to discover budding talents who can restore the old glory of Ondo State in Nigerian football,” he said.
Also speaking, the Chief Operating Officer of the league, Aladenika Aladetoye Sunday, revealed that a special football team will be created to accommodate outstanding players discovered during the tournament.
He clarified that players would not be forcefully taken from their grassroots teams. Instead, organisers will work out a smooth agreement with the team owners whose players are selected.
“Our target is to aggressively expose these young talents to the global football stage. Players discovered in the last two editions are already doing well within and outside the state,” Aladetoye added.
The 2025 BODFL promises to be a platform for young footballers in Ondo State to showcase their potential and possibly launch professional careers.
