Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, owo, in line with the tenants of academic culture hosts eminent citizens, scholars and students across the globe at the on going 2nd international conference holding at the 800 seater auditorium in the lnstitution with a massive attendance .
The 2nd international conference with the theme” Global Research for Scientific Impacts on Emerging Trends” was organised by the best award winning Faculty in the institution-Faculty of Applied Sciences under the Deanship of Mr..S.V.Omosuli.
At the epoch making event, the Chief host, Mr.Adegun Simon Olorunwa, Ag.rector of the institution at the opening session, gladly welcomed all to the conference.He eulogised the Faculty of Applied Sciences for sustaining the tempo on academic laurel which has greatly impact the lives of all in the Polytechnic community and its environ.
He also appreciated the Visitor to the institution, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Executive Governor of Ondo- State for his giant efforts at repositioning the institution to greater heights.
The 3- day international Conference which started on Monday,11th November,2024 featured many dignitaries, including Hon. ( Mrs) Olamide Falana , Special Adviser to the .Governor of Ondo -State on Gender matters and the Chairperson at the occasion while the key note speaker is a re- knowned Professor – Professor S.Odimayo,a Professor of Pathology at the University of Medical Sciences,Ondo and who is currently the Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo -State on Health Matters.
In his keynote lecture, the renowned Professor exhibited his research expertise on the topic and touched cognate aspects on technical know-how with a view to achieving great innovations and creations that will meet the urgent need of the society.Such initiatives according to him will bring us at per to the levels of other developed nations in the world..
He challenged the myopic thought on the superiority of university education over the Polytechnic .He came up with the view that if Polytechnics in the country identified with their goals, unique technological discoveries and advancement would have reshaped the nation and their host communities.The toga of dichotomy between the universities and Polytechnic institutions could have been nipped in the bud
He opined that developed nations in the world are celebrating the fruits of modern technology.
The Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences,Mr. S.V.Omosuli whilst delivering his speech affirmed that the 2nd international conference came into being so as to share knowledge, foster collaboration and advance the frontiers of scientific inquiry.He also stressed that the conference would reflect the pressing need for innovative solutions to global challenges.He applauded the organising Committee and full of encomiums for the presence of the Special Advisers who inspite of their tight schedules found out time to grace the occasion.
The educative gathering was reinforced by the encouraging speech from the Chairperson of the Conference Hon(Mrs) Olamide Falana who counselled the students to strive to become assets in life. she challenged them to make their lifestyles impact ful to their environments.
She eulogised the Governor of Ondo- State for his welfare programmes and for given the Institution an enabling environment for excellence.
The 3 day international Conference featured educative , informative and entertaining sessions.
According to the Director, Public Relations and Protocol, Mr.Ojo Samuel(JP) the Conference was one of the best in the annals of conferences in the Institution. He credited the success to God and wish the Faculty of Applied Sciences more of such feat.
The student populace, Teaching and Non teaching members of staff joyfully in large numbers participated in the conference.
