Stakeholders Advocate for Technology-Driven Public Administration at CIPAN 2025 Night in Ondo

Stakeholders have called for a technology-driven public administration system to enhance efficient service delivery and promote good governance in Nigeria. This was the central message at the 2025 CIPAN Night organised by the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria (CIPAN), Ondo State Chapter, held on Thursday in Akure.

Chairman of the Ondo State Information Technology Agency (SITA), Hon. Tomide Akinribido, who chaired the occasion, emphasized the importance of technology in modern governance. He noted that the state government, under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has begun implementing measures to promote innovation and digital connectivity across all ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

According to Akinribido, the use of personal email addresses for official communication has been banned among senior civil servants, reinforcing the push toward secure, centralized, and digital government systems.

Themed “Advancing an Innovation-Driven Public Service: Leveraging Technology,” the event also featured remarks from Dr. Gabriel Fakindele, CIPAN Chairman in Ondo State. Fakindele urged members to uphold integrity, accountability, and professionalism in alignment with the governor’s Our Ease Agenda for state development.

Committee Chairperson of CIPAN Night 2025, Mrs. Aderonke Ibitoye, called on members to renew their dedication to nation-building and ethical conduct, highlighting CIPAN as more than a professional body but a movement for transformative public service.

In his goodwill message, Mr. Idowu Ojo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, stressed that technological adoption is key to national progress and fiscal efficiency. Similarly, ASUSS Chairman, Comrade Tajudeen Balogun, urged the government to demonstrate stronger political will to drive digital reforms.

Guest speaker, Mr. Paul Ushie, underscored that embracing technology would reduce leakages, increase transparency, and drive productivity. He noted that paperless administration is attainable and cited the Tinubu administration’s increased internally generated revenue (IGR) as evidence of technology’s impact.

The event also served as a platform for reflection, fellowship, and appreciation, as CIPAN members prepare for their upcoming national conference in Abuja.
