University basketball teams across Ondo State are gearing up to compete in the upcoming Ondo State Students Festival, themed “Our Ease Students’ Festival 1.0”, organized to commemorate International Students’ Day.
The event is scheduled to take place from November 13 to 17, 2025, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Akure Sports Complex.
Speaking ahead of the games, the Director of the Ondo State Student Athlete Development Office (OSSADO), Olabode James, said the tournament is designed to discover and nurture young talents across tertiary institutions in the state.
> “The initiative is designed to identify promising players, groom them to stardom, and prepare them to represent Ondo State and Nigeria at national and international levels,” he stated.
The initiative was introduced by the Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs to the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Kevin Solomon Olaolu (KSO), who has consistently emphasized the importance of sports and education in shaping today’s students and youth.
Expressing gratitude to His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for approving the event, Hon. Olaolu concluded that:
“Indeed, our ease has come — in the student community and in Ondo State at large.”
