The Chief of Staff to the Ondo State Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa, has assured that the state government will provide the necessary environment for the successful hosting of the upcoming Tinubu/Aiyedatiwa half-million walk.
Omojuwa noted that the initiative aligns with the vision of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to empower youths and position Ondo State as a hub for sporting excellence.
He added that sports remain a vital tool for youth engagement and socio-economic development.
The Chief of Staff made this known during a meeting with members of the Tinubu/Aiyedatiwa half-million walk committee, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Hon. Kehinde Akinrotoye (Bonsue), at his office in Akure, the state capital.
“I want to begin by commending the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Hon. Kehinde Akinrotoye, for this proactive step. Since his appointment, he has demonstrated energy and commitment toward transforming the sports sector in the state,” Omojuwa said.
He described the programme, scheduled for April 1, 2026, as significant, assuring the committee of the government’s full support.
Omojuwa also urged the organisers to ensure the initiative is sustained beyond a one-off event, stressing the need to continuously discover and nurture talents from grassroots communities across the 18 local government areas of the state.
Earlier, Akinrotoye explained that the committee visited the Chief of Staff to formally invite him to the event.
He said the walk is aimed at showcasing the achievements of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
According to him, the programme will commence from the Ondo State Government House and terminate at the State Sports Complex in Akure.
