I wish to join lovers of democracy and good governance to applaud our amiable Governor in Ondo – State His Excellency (Dr.) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on the success that crowned the age-long convocation ceremony in Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
The combined convocation would have been impossible if not for his intervention and driven concern.This triat in him earned him accolades from the Polytechnic Community .
The convocation came and is now gone but the widespread news on the payment of 3 months salary arreas promised by the Governor is yet to see the light of the day.
It is in this vein, lam writing to draw the attention of Gov Aiyedatiwa to this unpaid salary arreas to avert misgivings from the political class and for the elites not to see his promise as a mere political statement.
The sympathy and human feelings expressed by Mr.Governor during the convocation that Rugipo staff will not see the dark days again should now begin to manifest by fulfilling the payment of the 3 months arrears.This is a mark of integrity.
The accolades from political admirers should not be for a political score alone but for a legacy to be sustained .The Christmas festive is almost at hand and Rugipo staffers should not celebrate Yuletide with hunger.
The Polytechnic Community and the public at large will appreciate the GOVERNOR for honouring his words during the convocation and if there is any perceived misappropriation of fund at any level on the event, a public scrutiny could be called for to address such.
As a populist and kind hearted leader , please honour your words and promises at the convocation ground for history and for posterity
