Ologunloluwa Invests in Grassroots Football, Registers Two Teams for 2026 Federation Cup

In his continued support for grassroots football development, the former Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State, Hon. Bamidele Ologunloluwa, has purchased registration forms for two teams in Akure North Local Government.

Ologunloluwa paid for the registration of Akure North United FC and Akure North Queens FC for the 2026 Federation Cup.

The Akure – North United FC will compete in male category of the federation cup , while Akure North Queens FC will also slug it out against other female teams in the female category of the oldest football competition in the country.

The Chairman of the Local Football Council in Akure North, Coach Banjo Adepoju, expressed appreciation to the former Chairman of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) for his unwavering support for grassroots football in the council area and across the state.

Adepoju noted that this was not the first time Hon. Ologunloluwa would be contributing to the development of grassroots football in Akure North.

He said: “Ologunloluwa has sponsored several grassroots football competitions in Ondo State, including the 2023 Mock Nations Cup 7-Aside Soccer Tournament, where young talents showcased their abilities, and the Dele Ologun Street Soccer tagged DOSS 2023 in Iju and Ita Ogbolu.”

According to him, talents discovered during these competitions have been assembled to form a strong team capable of competing effectively in the 2026 Federation Cup.

Speaking with newsmen, Hon. Bamidele Ologunloluwa reaffirmed his commitment to supporting grassroots football in his local government and in Ondo State at large.

He said: “We discovered that the outstanding players selected during the 2023 Mock Nations Cup 7-Aside Soccer Cup and the DOSS 2023 Street Soccer Tournament have been training together for a long time without any competitive platform to assess them.”

“When we learned that the Federation Cup for both male and female teams would hold next year, we seized the opportunity to register them so they can showcase their talents to the state and the world at large.”
