The Convener of Ondo Football Stakeholders Forum (OFSF), Otunba Dele Ologbese, has described the deadly attacks on Sunshine Stars football team as unfortunate episode in the annals of sports sector’s history in Nigeria.
Ologbese, while extending the heart- felt sympathy of the Ondo football Stakeholders forum to the club and its management over the grouesome incident, called for urgent security interventions from three levels of governments in the country in saving lives of innocent souls from criminalities.
The pioneer Secretary of the Ondo State Football Agency ODSFA, in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Akure, prayed Almighty God to heal players and officials who sustained various degrees of injuries from gun shots. He also prays against re- occurrence of such dastardly acts.
The former Vice Chairman of Ondo State Football Association FA added that the ugly scenario was the height of insecurity in the country occasioned by amateurist management of security architectures by political leaders
He said the political leaders handling Nigeria’s affairs were highly insensitive to the plight of the masses who had no means of eking existence in the faces of current economic turpitude other than resorting to various forms of criminalities.
The ugly incident is the height of insecurities in Nigeria occasioned by improper management of security architectures by political leaders coupled with their grave insensitivity to plights of the citizenry who are exposed to harsh economic quartzite in the country with no choice than engaging in various forms of criminalities
His words: “If these dastardly trends which put lives of our football players and their officials in great jeopardy or danger continued unabated organizers of leagues tiers have no option than to urgently put on hold football matches across the country until these dangerous situations are put under control”.
“We use this medium to call on the three tiers of governments in Nigeria to strive hard in improving on nation’s security apparatus in shambles with a view to saving lives of innocent people, especially our football players and their officials struggling to meet up with current harsh economic situations in the country.”
