Expect More Responsive Civil Service In 2023, ONdo HOS Assures Public

The Ondo State Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele has expressed the readiness of civil servants in the state to be more efficient and committed to service in the year 2023.

The Head of Service made this known on Monday while continuing his unscheduled inspection visits to government offices at the State Secretariat, Alagbaka in Akure, the state capital.

He expressed optimism that the offsetting of all inherited salary arrears by the present administration would, no doubt, boost the morale of workers for excellent service delivery.

The visit, which took Pastor Ogundele and his entourage to the state Ministries of Information and Orientation, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Office of Establishment and Training, provided the opportunity for the HoS to encourage workers on the discharge of their duties as well as make corrections where necessary

According to him, such visits to government offices would be conducted from time to time to put civil servants on their toes.

In his words, ‘what the public should be expecting is a more efficient, a more responsive civil service. The civil servants should be aware of the fact that the members of the public are looking up to them to ensure that they assist the current government in achieving its goals of delivering good governance.’

‘This is a wake-up call to everybody. For us in Ondo State as public servants, we are very lucky because we have put behind us, the issue of salary arrears.’ He said.

‘So if the government has taken it upon itself to do the needful in this areas, I don’t think we should be found wanting.’

‘Government has played its part of the bargain, workers must not fail on their own part. That is what we are trying to pass across to workers.’ He added.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the Administrative Secretary in the state Ministry of Information and Orientation, Mrs Toyin Onisile urged workers not to let the government and the people down, saying much was expected from them.

‘As public officers, we need to sit up and give our best to society. Society is expecting more especially in governance and the civil service is a key part and so every hand must be on the deck.’ She said.

Also speaking on the inspection visit, one of the officers, Mr Victor Adegbehingbe called on workers in the state not to see the periodic visits of the HOS as witch-hunting but as an encouragement to put in their best
