The deputy governor of Ondo state, Dr. Olayide Adelami, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of the deputy governor of Bayelsa state, Senator Lawrence Oboraw-Harievwo Ewhrudjakpo, describing his death as a profound loss to Bayelsa state, the Niger Delta region, and the nation at large.
In a condolence message by his spokesperson, John Paul Akinduro, the Ondo state deputy governor extolled Senator Ewhrudjakpo as an erudite administrator, deep thinker, seasoned politician, and committed patriot whose contributions to governance and national development were both far-reaching and impactful.
“The late Deputy Governor distinguished himself through intellectual depth, uncommon diligence, and an unyielding commitment to excellence in public service.
“Still fresh in my memory are his incisive and very powerful contributions to the success of the inaugural summit of the Nigerian International Coastal Border Platform, held in Uyo a few months ago. His interventions at that forum reflected his vast knowledge, clarity of thought, and deep understanding of issues critical to national cohesion, security, and development,” Dr. Adelami recalled.
He further described the late Deputy Governor as a man of letters with a refreshing sense of humour, a keen analytical mind, and an exceptional knack for excellence, qualities that endeared him to colleagues and collaborators across the country.
“His passing will, no doubt, leave a significant vacuum in the governance and development architecture of Bayelsa state. However, we are consoled by the enduring legacies he has left behind, one anchored on integrity, rich intellectual capacity, teamwork, and selfless service to humanity,” the Ondo State Deputy Governor said.
Dr. Adelami extended his heartfelt condolences to the wife and children of the deceased, the governor of Bayelsa state and his Principal, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, as well as the entire people of Bayelsa state, and his colleague Deputy Governors, praying that God grants them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The Ondo state deputy governor also prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of Senator Ewhrudjakpo, noting that his life of service and dedication to duty would remain a source of inspiration to present and future generations.
