Ijapo Ages Defeat Victory Lions,Win Adu Cubana Unity Cup …Recorded 19 Unbeaten Matches

Goals from the duo of Olorunda John and Damilola Adekayero were the decider as Ijapo Ages Stars FC defeated Victory Lions to lift the Adu Cubana Unity Cup competition organized by TUBABA Football Scouting Academy Network Nigeria (TFSANN)for the third consecutive time.

Ijapo Ages Stars have recorded 19 unbeaten matches in the competition since 2021.

Olorunda John scored from Adeleye Adewole sumptuous pass to put Ijapo Ages Stars FC ahead in the 5th minute of the enthralling encounter played at the Ondo State Sports complex Akure.

Victory Lions reacted swiftly to the goal, but their efforts to get a leveller were unsuccessful as Ijapo Ages Stars FC curtailed all their antics and took the lead to the end of the first stanza .

The restart of the encounter saw the continuation of the beautiful football artistry from both sides.

Ijapo Ages coach, Adeola Adetomiwa made some tactical changes by bringing in Damilola Adekayero and Seun John into the fray.

Substituted Damilola Adekayero wasted no time in putting the ball into the top roof of the net in the 79th minute and sealed the victory for Ijapo Ages Stars FC from another substituted player, Seun John’s assist.

Ijapo Ages Stars FC captain, Nosa Enabulele was sent off two minute into the end of the match for dissent.

The sponsor of the competition, Barrister Olumuyiwa Adu commended both teams for their display of good football artistry.

Adu however frowned at the level of facilities at the state sports complex Akure, saying he felt disturbed seeing the stadium in shambles.

He said: “All I’m doing today to help humanity is not because I’m looking for political position, in the next 20years we may not be here again, but as far as I’m alive, I feel I need to contribute to the upliftment of humanity and ensure that most of these things will outlive me”

“We are at the verge of establishing a football academy in Akure, by the grace of God ,by this time next year we should be able to take some people there to see what we have done.”

“We are not there yet, because most of the talents in the state were not recognized because there is nothing to attract investors into the state to push them.”

The chief organisers and CEO of Tubaba Football Scouting Academy Network Nigeria, Ayokunle Oluwatope thanked all the participating teams for playing according to the rules and regulations of the 15th edition of the competition.

Oluwatope disclosed that about 25 players have been discovered in the competition, assuring that the future is bright for the discovered players.
