Saba Dare has emerged winner of 2022/23 “lópàñtètè (first to reach) Mountain climbing competition held in Ondo City.While James Favour came second and Oloyede Favour grabbed third position .
Saba Dare who came first went home with N100,000 cash prize, while the second and third collected N70,000 and N50,000 respectively.
The second edition of “lópàñtètè” Mountain Climbing was part of activities line up for the grand opening of Níbanólá Motherland Igbado, Ondo.
The winner of the mountain climbing competition Saba Dare ran and climbed the mountain with about 586 steps in just 25.5seconds. He is faster than the winner of the first edition.
In a chat with newsmen, the President of Ekimogun Youths Connect, Famakinwa Lukas Kakaaki who is the chairman planning committee for the 2022/23 “lópàñtètè” Mountain climbing competition said only 63 athletes were certified to participate in the race out of the 100 registered athletes.
He added that four athletes withdrew voluntarily at the commencement of the race , while 59 competed .
Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, represented by his Deputy, Hon. lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa charged the participants to keep the good work going, saying sports is a veritable tools to keep the youth busy.
Aiyedatiwa urged private individuals to join hands with the state government to develop sports in the state.
The founder of Níbanólá Motherland,
Dr Hon Jibayo Adeyeye and Prof Mrs Funke Adeyeye congratulated the winners , charging other contestants to go back to the drawing board to start preparation for the third edition of the competition.
