The Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA) has promoted seven promising Under-19 players to Sunshine Stars FC as part of efforts to develop young football talents and create a pathway into professional football.

Chairman of the agency, Mr Devine Ogbonaya, disclosed this at the Games Village along Oda Road, Akure, saying the players earned their promotion following sustained monitoring of their performances and impressive displays.

The promoted players are Oreyomi Bamigbe, David Joseph, Uche Anaro, Alade Damilola, Yakubu Shuibu, Ugochukwu Lawrence and Khalil Nurudeen.

Ogbonaya charged the players to give their best, maintain discipline and remain committed to their professional careers.

He also urged them to heed the instructions of their coaches and work harmoniously with their teammates.

He said the promotion underscored ODSFA’s commitment to providing talented young footballers in Ondo State with a clear pathway to professional football.

“This is part of our commitment to identifying, developing and giving opportunities to young talents in the state. We want these players to take the opportunity seriously and continue to work hard,” Ogbonaya said.

Sunshine Stars head coach, Duke Udi, said the players were carefully assessed before being selected strictly on merit.

Udi disclosed that the youngsters had already been integrated into the first-team set-up and featured in the club’s recent friendly against Shooting Stars FC in Ibadan.

Sunshine Stars won the encounter 2–1, giving the newly promoted players valuable exposure to first-team football.

The promotion is expected to provide the young talents with further experience while strengthening Sunshine Stars’ commitment to developing home-grown players for the professional game.
