Olajide Pledges Comprehensive Master Plan For Rapid Developmen

The Ondo State Government has reiterated its commitment to formulating a comprehensive and modern master plan to drive the state’s rapid development.

The newly sworn-in Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Hon. Sunday Olajide, gave the assurance on Wednesday in Akure, shortly after assuming office.

Olajide, one of the 16 commissioners recently inaugurated by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, emphasized the urgent need for a structured and sustainable development blueprint.

“We must be honest with ourselves that we are long overdue for a master plan — not just for Akure, but for Ondo State as a whole,” he said.

“Mr. Governor is focused on this direction. We are going to transform Akure into an Eldorado. It is time to put things in order and do them right.”

He noted that the government would ensure proper urban planning across all communities in the state to prevent disorganized growth and promote orderly development.

Olajide, a two-term former legislator, also charged staff of the ministry to be dedicated, united, and professional in the discharge of their duties.

“I want this ministry to be the best in the state. Mr. Governor has a strong interest in its performance, and it is central to his development agenda. Let’s shun in-fighting and work as a team,” he added.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Gbenga Akingbasote, called on the commissioner to prioritize a modern master plan for Akure and other major cities. He pledged the cooperation and commitment of the ministry’s staff to support the commissioner’s vision for the benefit of the entire state.
