By John Kayode

Sunshine Stars continued their good run in the 2022 Taiwo Ogunjobi Gold Cup, but were undone by an own goal, gifting Niger Tornadoes a share of the spoils in their pulsating day three contest at the Remo Stars Stadium.

The Edith Agoye tinkered side made their early dominance count in the 17th minute when new revelation, Mefang Pam scored a spectacular opener from an acute angle.

Sunshine Stars were made to rue their luck after the hour mark as Mutiu Dauda turned into is own net while trying to clear his line from a low ball across the face of goal.

The energetic left full back almost found reprieve with a well-dispatched free kick five minutes from time, however he was denied by a last ditch from the goalkeeper.

The Owena Whales pushed to restore their advantage with no breakthrough and were relieved to see the Ikon Allah denied by the woodwork late on.

Sunshine Stars remain second on the group A log with five points from three matches, needing a win against Hammola FC on day four to book a place in the semis of the pre-season tournament.
