Two of Five Children Set Ablaze By Stepfather Die

Two out of five children set ablaze by their 54yr-old step-father, Ojo Joseph, have lost their lives at a hospital in Ondo state.

One out of the five children died on Saturday immediately after the incident, while two others were rushed to the hospital after the incident occurred at Fagun area of Ondo town, died today.

The man alleged that his wife who is the mother of the children offended him over a misunderstanding.

He was said to have poured petrol into the room while the children were asleep and set their room on fire.

Spokesperson of the state police command, Funmi Odunlami confirmed that the two children died because they could not recover from the injuries they sustained.

She added that everything is being done to save the two remaining children.

Odunlami said,”It is sad that two children have also died because of the severe burns.”

She added that the man had been apprehended by the police for a case of alleged arson and murder.

The PPRO hinted that investigation is ongoing before charging the suspect to court.
