A community-based intervention has brought relief to Lujomu Community Grammar School in Ayeyemi, Ondo State, following the donation of roofing materials to address the deteriorating condition of the school’s examination hall.
The intervention was initiated by the Friends of BOD after the group received a distress call from the leadership of the Ayeyemi United Youth Movement over the poor state of infrastructure at the government-owned school.
Members of the group subsequently visited the school to assess the situation and found students sitting for the ongoing National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations inside an examination hall with a badly damaged and leaking roof, exposing candidates to unsafe and unfavourable conditions.
Moved by the situation, the Friends of BOD launched an emergency public appeal to raise funds for immediate intervention. The proceeds were used to procure high-quality roofing sheets, which have since been delivered to the school authorities and the leadership of the Ayeyemi United Youth Movement.
The youth movement commended the group’s prompt response, describing the intervention as timely and expressing delight that efforts had begun to restore dignity to the learning environment at the school.
Speaking on the initiative, the Friends of BOD described the donation as only the first phase of a broader effort to improve the school’s infrastructure.
The group, inspired by the community development vision of Bolaji Omotayo Daramola, appealed to individuals, corporate organisations and other stakeholders to support the complete rehabilitation of Lujomu Community Grammar School.
The group expressed optimism that sustained collaboration between citizens, community organisations and development partners would help provide students with a safer and more conducive environment for learning.
